• Message From Our Principal

Houghtaling Dolphin Families, The Superintendent elected not to renew my administrative contract, so I am being forced transferred to teach English at Schoenbar. It is with a heavy heart that I express my blessing to have led our Houghtaling Dolphin Family these past three years. I hope the motto of leading by example- Respect, Professionalism, Communication, was reflected in my leadership each day. My words and actions were to always put students first. Making the jump to Administration is challenging far beyond what one gets in a degree program, during an internship, or as you wait on the sidelines post degree. Thank you for helping me continue to learn the perils of this side of administration. We will finish this school year strong and positive, celebrating the successes of our students. I will continue to embrace our students, knowing we make a difference...one smile and warm greeting at a time. May you and your family and friends make great memories this summer! Gunalchéesh Respectfully, Sheila Klosterman

  • Message From Our Assistant Principal

Houghtaling Dolphin Families, It is with mixed emotions that I inform you all I will be transferred to Point Higgins Elementary School for the 2019-20 school year. I will be serving a dual role at Point Higgins as Vice Principal and I will instruct mandated Guidance Counselor units to the students. My year at Houghtaling Elementary School was amazing. There were challenges, personal and professional growth, and awesome times with the students and staff in this building. I appreciate the warmth and acceptance I received from every student, staff member, and family member I had the pleasure of working with this year. You will all be missed. My family truly felt welcomed and embraced by the Houghtaling community. As I continue my career as an administrator in the KGBSD, and as a resident in this tremendous community, I’m sure our paths will cross on numerous occasions in the future. Thank you all for what you do for the students at Houghtaling. Stay calm and dolphin on, Dan Olson

  • Excessive Tardiness

Hello Parents: We are noticing more and more students arriving to school tardy. Please plan accordingly the night before so that you are all ready for the morning chaos. With that being said, students should not arrive to school before 8:35am. ALL STUDENTS go to either breakfast or the playground at 8:35am. There is no hanging out in the front foyer waiting for the bell to ring. Teachers are getting their rooms ready for the day so kids may not go to the classroom unless plans have been made prior.
