Hello! Wáa sá i yatée? (How are you?) My name is Peter Stanton and I love being a teacher in Ketchikan.

This year I am teaching Alaska Studies (1st and 5th period), World History (3rd and 6th period), and AP World History (4th period). Please see the individual pages in the sidebar for more details about these courses.

I graduated from Kayhi in 2009, and there are still nine of my former teachers on staff! After Kayhi, I attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Then I earned a master's degree in teaching from the University of Alaska Southeast while working as a student teacher with Mrs. Stone, Mr. Stockhausen, and now-Representative Dan Ortiz.

Some of my hobbies include learning languages (especially Lingít) and playing with my cat Freya. (Check out her Instagram!) I also love coaching Kayhi's highly successful Academic Decathlon team—the 2018 Alaska champions and Division III national champions. I was a decathlete myself during all four of my years at Kayhi, and I've been coach since 2014.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about my teaching or coaching!
