    Diane Gubatayao was re-elected to the Board of Education for a three-year term in October 2017.
     
    Ms. Gubatayao was first elected to the Board of Education for a three-year term in October 1994. On October 26, 2016, the Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Diane Gubatayao to fill a seat left vacant after Michelle O'Brien resigned. Ms. Gubatayao will serve out the remainder of the term of the vacated seat, i.e. until the municipal election in October 2017.

    Alma Parker

    Alma Parker was elected to the Board of Education for a three-year term in October 2015.

    Alma Manabat Parker has called Ketchikan home since 1980. After graduating from Kayhi (1991), she attended community college in Washington and then moved to California, earning her Bachelor's degree in Ethnic Studies from University of California, San Diego. Much of Alma's early work experience has been in the non-profit sector assisting low-income families, women and minority groups achieve self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. Since moving back to Ketchikan in 2005, Alma has been involved with efforts that support and promote: health/wellness, youth self-esteem, awareness to women's issues, the arts and various student activities.
     
    Alma is married to retired USMC 1st Sergeant Dennis Parker and is the mother of Maya and Jameson. She is a local business owner (studioMAX), SMS Dance Team coach/instructor, Kanayama Exchange Executive Board Member and also works full time.

    The Board of Education student member is the Ketchikan High School Student Body Association President. The student Board member actively participates in meetings, work sessions and provides a preferential vote.
