Ketchikan Gateway Borough Superintendent of Schools
Inspired “to provide high quality instruction to every student within a positive environment reflective of our community needs.”
Robert Boyle became Ketchikan Gateway School District Superintendent on July 1, 2007. He was previously superintendent of Tahola Schools on the Quinault Indian Reservation, Washington, and also Northwest Arctic Borough School District in Kotzebue, Alaska. Mr. Boyle was principal of the Seward Elementary School in Kenai School District, and Ouzinkie, Danger Bay and Big Sandy Lake schools in Kodiak School District.
In 1984, Bob first moved to Alaska and lived in Unalakleet, Bering Strait School District. He likes to say that he discovered Ketchikan in the summer of 1985 and it took him until 2007 to get a job there.
Mr. Boyle also taught in private schools in Iran and Saudi Arabia. He was a principal in Venezuela, and Director of Schools in Kazakhstan.
Favorite saying comes from Donald O. Clifton; “Our greatest contribution is to be sure there is a teacher in every classroom who cares that every student, every day, learns and grows and feels like a real human being.”
