School News

  • Dear Fawn Mountain Staff and Families,

Today, we were notified that a member of the Fawn Mountain Elementary School family has tested positive for COVID-19.  Based on initial contact tracing conducted by our District Nurse(s), Health Aid, and Public Health and our ongoing mitigation efforts we will need to quarantine one of the 6th grade classrooms but do NOT need to close the school in response to this case.

Those who have been identified as a close contact have been contacted and advised to quarantine for 10 days (through April 18th and return to school/resume normal activity on April 19th) or be tested on the 13th or 14th of April 2021 and may return to school after a negative COVID test result is received.

We understand that this is difficult news and impacts all who are part of the Fawn Mountain family, the school district, and the community.

While we are not able to share personally identifiable information, we do care about keeping our community informed.

Our district has taken these action steps:

    • Contacted, and are working closely with, our local Public Health.
    • Contacted all person(s) who were in close contact with the individual.
    • Quarantined the potentially exposed classroom and individuals who have had contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes accumulative time) with the positive case and launched deep cleaning efforts.
    • Notified all students and families.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to myself, our District Nurses, or Public Health, contact information is listed below.

  • Tips to help your child be successful on the upcoming PEAKS Assessment

    1.Prioritize Attendance

The purpose of tests is to measure how well students have learned the material taught in class. Your child’s presence is vital!

2.Talk to your child about test-taking

Have open, ongoing conversations with your child about how testing helps teachers understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses so the teachers can figure out the most effective ways to teach.

    3.Offer Positive Reinforcement

Encouragement can go a long way in helping students walk into testing days feeling confident.

    4.Support healthy habits

Sleep and nutrition can have a significant impacton your child’s ability to focus.Have a scheduled bedtime each night. Encourage your child to stay hydrated and eat healthily.

    5.Keep Testing in Perspective

No ONE test is important enough to place undue stress on your child. Keep it positive.

    6.Debrief after Testing

Talk to your child each day after testing because it can help your child process the experience and overcome any anxiety he or she may have had.
