Hello! My name is Penny Ranniger a.k.a. Miss Penny, Miss "Libearian", and the book fairy! I am certified as a K-12 Library Media Specialist, K-12 Reading Specialist, K-12 English as a Second Language teacher, and a K-8 General Education teacher. I have taught for over 26 years. My career began at Berkeley Middle School in Williamsburg, Virginia. After finishing my Masters degree in Reading, Language Arts and Literacy at the College of William and Mary, I moved to Ketchikan to teach at Schoenbar Middle School. After seven years, I switched to Houghtaling Elementary School. I've taught 4th Grade, 1st Grade, 8th Grade, 7th Grade, 6th Grade, 5th Grade, a 6/7 split, was a Reading Specialist and am now a school librarian. I have enjoyed trying new things over my teaching career, but I think that every day I am in the library with my students, preschoolers to sixth graders, is the best day yet. I enjoy the challenge that teaching all the levels brings. I also love the smiles on faces as students encounter new information, new authors, and new books.
