Hello, T.S.A.S. family! My name is Melanie Cornwall. I have been teaching for three years now and this will be my second year at T.S.A.S. Last year, I taught first grade and this year, I will be teaching STEAM - science, technology, engineering, art, math (and music!). While I am new to T.S.A.S as a teacher, I am not new as a person. My mom is one of the founding members of our APC and a retired teacher herself and I am a T.S.A.S. alum, so it is incredibly exciting to be back! I grew up here in Ketchikan and graduated from Kayhi. After high school, I moved to Oregon where I went to school at Pacific University. I spent one year teaching in Oregon at East Elementary in Tillamook, where I taught fourth grade. My husband Tyler and I have two kids, a daughter and a son. Someday I know they will join the Thunderbird family, but since they are both under two it will be a couple more years! In my free time, I love to be outside; hiking, boating, kayaking, foraging, or just spending time at the playground with my kids. I am overjoyed to be part of the T.S.A.S. family and working with the whole school this year exploring and creating the STEAM program!
