My name is Katie Sivertsen and this is my fourth year at Point Higgins Elementary School and eighth year in the District. I have taught first, second, third, fifth, and sixth grades as a classroom teacher, plus a couple years of PE. I also coach Kayhi's XC team - go Kings!
I grew up in Palmer, Alaska, a small town in the Mat-Su Valley sandwiched between the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains. I earned my undergraduate degree in Outdoor Studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, then spent a few years skiing and climbing around Alaska and the western United States. I attended graduate school in Juneau and earned my MAT in Teaching, as well as my MEd Reading Specialist. Obv, I love to learn about learning and teaching!
I spend my time outside of school running...and running...and running. I also enjoy hiking and adventuring with my family and reading good books.
