Degrees and Certifications:
Dear KGBSD Educators, Families and Community,
My name is Alonso Escalante. I have been an educator for almost 20 years in Colorado, Texas, and of course here in our beloved Ketchikan. My teaching, assistant principal, and principal experiences have all been in elementary schools. One year I worked as a Peer Observer Director in Denver and that experience took me to elementary, middle, and high schools on a weekly basis. I look forward to engaging in dialogue about all things curriculum and professional development to support our educators with the end goal of maximizing the learning opportunities for our children.
Our department is responsible for the curriculum in all disciplines for all ages. Our goal is to provide a rich curriculum in all disciplines and provide consistency across schools and grade levels. In addition to curriculum is professional development that promotes what we teach, how we teach and assesses our student’s growth.
Our district has been through many shifts this year and with the current economic climate at the state level there are many questions about what will occur in the next school year. Despite the shifts and uncertainty we know that our students will return August 29th so we are currently preparing for the 2019-20 school year.
We will update our website often and invite you to frequent our site for new and upcoming information.
Please know that my door is always open and your visit is always welcome.
