    Hello Fast Track Families,

Another school year fast approaches. This is my third year with our program, and I feel like I have learned a great deal about how to be a helpful assistant and teacher guide as you home school your children. If you are new to our program, I encourage you to email me or call me often with any questions that come to mind. During the summer, I spend one day a week at my desk, answering emails and setting up new student programs.
Here are the dates I expect to be in the office from now until the official district start day of August 24.

    Wednesday, July 29, 7 - 3
    Tuesday, August 3, 7 - 3
Wednesday and Thursday, August 19 and 20
    My desk phone is 907 228 8801

Our program assistant, Jenn Smith can answer many of your questions and she can be reached at 907 247 2127.

Fast Track offers a lot of options for curriculum materials, as well as a stipend to buy student materials and a stipend for Internet expenses. All Fast Track home school children may select a computer or an iPad to use in their home school settings. We also pride ourselves on local accessibility by having an experienced regualr education and special education teacher available here in Ketchikan...(that's me!)

Fast Track has adopted a new on-line program for creating our Individual Learning Plans. Please visit the following address to get started on enrolling your child.             https://my.brightwayslearning.com/fasttrack

The address above is not linked to the Bright Ways site, so you need to type it into your address bar. Hopefully this link will be activated on the Fast Track web page in the very near future.

I am excited to lead and to assist with a variety of Fast Track enrichment activities in the upcoming year. We have many educational field trips at our fingertips, lots of creative parent-led activities, and some enrichment lesson kits we can borrow from KGBSD schools. We are a motivated and creative community of learners. I look forward to working with you this year!

    Sincerely,
    Ms. Lori Ortiz 228 -8801
