Hello, my name is Frankie Urquhart and I teach 7th and 8th grade science classes at Schoenbar Middle School. I am happy to be teaching in the community that I spent my teen years in, and am a graduate of Kayhi. I received my Bachelor's of Science at Southern Oregon University, in Ashland, Oregon. I then moved up to Chevak, Alaska for my first teaching position. Chevak is a Cup'ik Eskimo village and was home to me for 3 years. I learned a lot from my students and enjoyed my time there. I then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where I taught at a Charter School for 2 years. After 5 years of teaching in the cold Northern regions of Alaska, my husband and I felt it was time to get back to our roots here in Ketchikan. This is my 12th year teaching at Schoenbar and I LOVE it! My students' energy and excitement, motivate and inspire me everyday to be the best science teacher I can be for them.
When I am not teaching science, I love to run, read, sing, cook, camp, fish, hike, and spend time with my wonderful husband, and my four fabulous children. We really enjoy our life here in Ketchikan and are so happy to be a part of this quirky little community that we call home.
