Hello everyone! My name is Marisa Frey and I am the 6th grade teacher this year.
Before moving to Ketchikan and teaching at Point Higgins, I taught up north for the Bering Strait School District. I lived in the Inupiaq/ Yupik village of Elim,There, I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade for four years. I also taught a junior high reading class. Once I became pregnant,my husband Chad Frey, who teaches geography and U.S. History at Schoenbar Middle School, and I decided it was time leave Elim and settle in a more populated area. Ketchikan has been a perfect fit for us. Everyone we have met has been warm and welcoming to our family.
This is going to be a great year! I am looking forward to working with you and your child. I want us to work as a team to ensure that your child becomes an independent life long learner. I have high expectations for each of my students. I know they can do anything they put their minds to. I hope to help foster and continue this love of learning that they have.
I expect students to come to class ready to learn. It is important that they have had plenty of sleep and have had breakfast.
If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to either email or call me.
