  • Houghtaling PE Update

    from Mr. Johnson

    1-31-18

Over the next couple weeks our Dolphins will be working on various soccer skills.  In grades K-2 we spend the majority of time on basic fundamentals, introducing basic rules and team recognition.  While students in grades 3-6 focus more on strategy of the game and participating with good character and sportsmanship.

The Paddle Ball Unit was great success and we concluded the unit with a small scale tournament!

  • BUILDING SECURITY

    Posted by:
For the security of our students and staff, all visitors must enter and exit our building at the front office. We ask you also visibly display a visitor sticker for all staff to see.
We are strictly enforcing this new safety measure and ask for your cooperation.
Please do not be offended if you are not following this policy and get stopped by a staff member. We have been trained to stop people on premise not wearing a sticker. This is for ALL student and staff safety.

    Thank You.

What's Happening

  • KGBSD Text Alerts

    Text Alerts, Announcements, and Reminders

Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District is excited to announce that this year we will be activating texting capabilities through, SchoolMessenger, the same system that sends out the district’s automated phone calls and emails.  This service is not intended to replace our existing means of communication- rather it will enhance them.

The district will only use the service to provide information that is timely and relevant.

In order to participate in the new service you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone. The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete.

Simply text any one of the following words to the number 67587: subscribe, optin, yes

You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message:
You are registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. Reply STOP to quit, HELP for help.

In addition to performing the opt-in process above you’ll want to insure that the district has your wireless number(s) in our student information database. If you haven’t already provided that information to your school, do so.

  • School Climate and Connectedness Survey

The Ketchikan School District will be conducting the School Climate and Connectedness Survey (SCCS) to students in grades 6-12 from Monday, February 5th-16th.  The SCCS is a voluntary statewide survey taken by students and staff since 2006. It measures positive school climate, how connected students feel to adults and peers, social and emotional learning, and observed risk behaviors at school or school events. If you have any questions, please contact your child's school.

Please look under the PARENTS tab at the top of this page to read about the School Climate & Connectedness Survey
