Mr. Stanton teaches math and social studies with the Tribal Scholars Program at KIC's Stedman Street building every morning. He then comes to Kayhi every afternoon to teach one French 2 class and one NSSS (Native Student Support Services) study hall class.
Mr. Stanton began learning French from his aunt, Mme Z., while he was a student at Kayhi. He continued studying French in college and studied abroad at the University of Strasbourg, where he took history courses in French. Monsieur Stanton est très enthousiaste à enseigner français cette année.
Students in NSSS use their class time to get homework done, catch up on missing assignments, and improve their grades. Mr. Stanton is happy to help with all kinds of homework, along with anything else students need.
Mr. Stanton also loves coaching Ketchikan High School's highly successful Academic Decathlon team (second place in the state in 2017). He was a decathlete himself for all four years at Kayhi and he's been coach since 2014.
