SPRING BREAK TRAVEL
As staff and students prepare for Spring Break travel, here are some important things to know:
- Students and staff traveling out of Ketchikan for Spring Break should quarantine for a minimum of 5 days upon return, and may return to work or school with a negative COVID test 5-7 days after return to Ketchikan.
- Students and staff traveling out of Ketchikan for less than 72 hours do not need to quarantine, but should obtain a COVID test upon return and closely monitor symptoms for 14 days.
- Students or staff who have tested positive and recovered from COVID within 90 days of traveling do not need to quarantine or test prior to returning to work, as long as they are asymptomatic.
Thank you for helping KGBSD keep our community in low risk!
Here are some ways to protect your family and your school:
✓ Keep children who are sick at home. Don’t send them to school.
✓ Teach your children to wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.
✓ Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.
✓ Teach your children to stay at least six feet away from people.
✓ People who are sick should stay home from work or school and isolate until they are better. As much as you can, isolate sick family members from others in your household.
✓ If your student has traveled recently, please know that returning travelers may not attend in-person school until 5 days have passed and until they or their guardian have received one negative COVID-19 test after 5 days of return to Ketchikan.
