Understand that participating in Internet Projects with your class is sound practice
I believe it because someone else told me. The sites I visited to help my understanding made I have read the research and find that it supports/is supported by other respected research. My experience is relevant research in itself.  
Become familiar with expectations of participating in an Internet Project
I know there are expectations.
The expectations I read about make sense. I have met the expectations of participating in an Internet Project. I have developed some of my own expectations of participating in an Internet project.  
Observe completed projects and look for ongoing projects
