Shannon Sines became the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District Director of Curriculum on July 1, 2014. She and her husband Tony were married on St. Paul Island in Alaska. That lone visit prompted them to begin their big adventure, moving over 3,000 miles from their home in Zanesville, Ohio to Ketchikan, Alaska!
Prior to moving to Ketchikan, Shannon’s career centered around the Franklin Local School District in Duncan Falls, Ohio of which she is a graduate. Most recently she served as the district’s Director of Instruction.
Shannon’s most memorable position was her simultaneous principalship at Roseville Elementary School and Roseville Middle School. She loved the challenge of leading two buildings and working with unique students with various needs.
Shannon began her career in 1998 as a fourth grade teacher at Duncan Falls Elementary School. Initially her classroom was self-contained. Later, her team departmentalized and she became the fourth grade English/Language Arts teacher. At the time, she never realized she would someday be hiring some of those “fourth graders” to teach in the district!
Shannon is happy to be calling Ketchikan her home and looks forward to serving the staff, students and community of Ketchikan as their Director of Curriculum.
